Manual With Auto Assist (5.4 MB)

This method provides a precise, locked focus as with all manual procedures but allows you to take advantage of the camera's focusing circuitry to overcome any viewing difficulties with the LCD screen or viewfinder. Focus holds once it is established and is not affected by motion in front of the camera.

  • Use when you need to lock focus on a particular point and must focus quickly
  • Use when viewing conditions are difficult using the LCD screen, such as in bright sunlight

  • The focus target still needs to be as centered as possible in the screen when you focus
  • Camera motion while focusing may throw focus off
