Aufklarung - Online Training
These modules regarding operation of the Sony PDX-10 DVCAM camcorder are intended as a supplement to classroom instruction and as a reference for basic operations. Video demonstrations are further supported with additional explanatory notes and descriptions in text below.
The PDX-10 can be operated in full automatic mode, though this is not recommended in professional applications with the exception of audio in news situations. Therefore, the focus on these training modules is on using manual controls.
The six general units cover the following areas:
- Introduction to the camera and its components, as well as basic default settings you should expect when checking out the camera for use.
- Sound covers basic microphone setups on the camera and manual controls of volume levels
- White Balance explains what white balance is and why it is important.
- Exposure explains how to use camera features to expose accurately rather than guessing based on how you think the image looks in the viewfinder.
- Focus demonstrates several manal focusing procedures.
- Framing and Composition demonstrates compositional aids and techniques.
This order of topics is also a good guideline for the order in which you should prepare when you go out on a shoot: set up and verify audio, white balance the camera, determine proper exposure, focus the camera, and - finally - compose and frame the shot.
For sake of clarity, the videos are presented in a large window. You may have to scroll down to read all of the accompanying text or to select additional modules.
